Amit Shah Targets Congress and AAP, Says Protests Achieve Nothing

Shah’s Remarks on Protests and Governance

Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that protests and demonstrations do not lead to meaningful outcomes, urging political leaders to prioritise public welfare. His comments were made during an event in outer Delhi, where he inaugurated 33 projects by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) valued at ₹8,941 crore. Shah directed his criticism towards the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing them of employing “political jugglery and mobocracy” in response to electoral results.

Shah emphasised that political parties should engage with the electorate to understand their issues instead of resorting to protests. He warned that failure to focus on governance could lead to the erosion of their political influence. “You cannot use political jugglery and mobocracy to defy the mandate of the people,” Shah stated, highlighting the need for effective implementation of welfare schemes.

He further asserted that the opposition’s narrative of “vote chori” is merely an excuse to mask their electoral failures, claiming that such allegations arise only when the BJP secures victories. Shah reiterated that the opposition must accept the people’s mandate rather than question the integrity of the electoral process.

Electoral Defeats and Future Predictions

Shah addressed the Congress’s historical electoral defeats, suggesting that the party has been rejected by voters long before the BJP rose to power in 2014. He pointed to the opposition’s successes in states like Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana, arguing that the same electronic voting machines (EVMs) and Election Commission were in operation during those victories. “Whenever you lose, you criticise the Election Commission,” he remarked, indicating a pattern of behaviour from the opposition.

In a bold prediction, Shah claimed that the BJP would remain in power for the next 30 years, attributing the opposition’s inability to regain power to their negative approach to politics. He stated, “I want to tell you that Amit Shah was born here, stays here, and will die here,” asserting his commitment to the region and the party’s future.

Shah’s comments were aimed at encouraging Congress and AAP to focus on governance in the states where they still hold authority, rather than engaging in negative campaigning.

Environmental Issues in Delhi and Future Plans

Shah also addressed environmental concerns in Delhi, attributing the city’s pollution and waste management issues to the previous Congress and AAP administrations. He claimed that these governments have allowed sewage and industrial waste to contaminate the Yamuna River. Shah announced a collaborative effort between the Centre and the Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh governments to implement a time-bound plan for cleaning the river.

He stated that a three-year action plan has been established to ensure that every household receives sewer connections and clean water. Shah expressed confidence that the initiatives launched would significantly contribute to achieving the target of a cleaner Yamuna by May 2029.

In addition, Shah highlighted the progress made in waste management, stating that over two crore tonnes of waste have been removed from Delhi’s landfill sites. He asserted that these areas would be transformed into gardens within two years, further enhancing the city’s environment.

Shah also directed his criticism towards the AAP government in Punjab, accusing it of failing to address drug abuse in the state. He expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form the government in Punjab by 2029 and take decisive action against the drug trade.
