A dramatic scene unfolded outside the Rampur family court on Friday afternoon when a woman, identified as Asiya, publicly thrashed her husband with slippers after he allegedly pronounced triple talaq and assaulted her. The incident, caught on camera, quickly went viral on social media.

Statement of Woman

Narrating the episode, she said, “My marriage took place in 2018. My husband used to beat me and threw me out of the house with my children. When I filed a case for maintenance, my children were taken away from me. On Friday, I went to court for the hearing. My husband and father-in-law abused me and told me to take my case back. After that, my husband gave me talaq outside the court, saying it three times. They then hit me, raised their hands against me, and I also raised my hand in self-defence. Someone recorded the video and it went viral. I want justice now. No man should divorce someone’s daughter like that.”

History of Abuse and Legal Battle

Asiya, a resident of Bambura village in Rampur’s Khajuria area, married Ashid Ali of Dheemri village in 2018. The couple has two daughters, aged six and two. According to Asiya, her marital life was marred by regular physical abuse and dowry harassment. She alleges that she was thrown out of her marital home after the birth of her second daughter.

Fed up with the abuse, Asiya began living with her children at her maternal home and filed a maintenance case in the family court about five months ago. She claims her husband later took the children away after she approached the court.

Courtroom Chaos Turns Violent

On Friday, Asiya appeared at the family court for a scheduled hearing, accompanied by her maternal aunt. Her husband Ashid and his father were also present. After the hearing, the confrontation turned ugly outside the court premises.

Asiya alleges that her husband and father-in-law followed her, hurled abuses, and pressured her to withdraw the maintenance case. In a shocking move, her husband allegedly pronounced triple talaq outside the court, following which both men assaulted her.

Viral Video Sparks Outrage

In response, Asiya grabbed her husband’s kurta and began hitting him with her slippers. The public scuffle caught the attention of bystanders, many of whom recorded the incident. The videos rapidly spread across social media, drawing widespread attention.

Bystanders eventually intervened and separated the two parties. Asiya later submitted a formal complaint at the SP office, seeking an FIR against her husband and father-in-law.

Woman Seeks Justice and Custody

“I want the strictest punishment for him,” said Asiya, demanding custody of her daughters, maintenance, and her right to live in her matrimonial home. “He beat me, took my children, and gave me talaq in public. I want justice, not just for me but for my daughters’ future.”
