A gruesome incident has rocked Haswa village in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, where a 35-year-old man allegedly murdered his neighbour and his sister-in-law after suspecting them of being in a relationship. The incident occurred on Friday evening within the limits of Thariaon police station, leaving the local community in shock.
Neighbour Lured, Killed in Orchard
Police identified the accused as Dildar Qureshi. According to investigators, he called his neighbour Faizan (45) to an orchard located about a kilometre from his house. An argument soon broke out between the two. In a sudden outburst of anger, the accused allegedly stabbed Faizan in the abdomen. When the victim tried to escape, he collapsed nearby, after which Dildar allegedly slit his throat, killing him instantly.
After the murder, Dildar reportedly returned to his house and attacked his sister-in-law, Zikra Parveen (25). Police said she was stabbed multiple times. When his sister Mannu (23) attempted to intervene and stop the attack, she was also assaulted, leaving her critically injured.
Neighbours Rush After Hearing Screams
Family members and neighbours rushed to the house after hearing screams and shifted both injured women to a hospital. Zikra succumbed to her injuries during treatment, while Mannu was later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai (LLR) Hospital in Kanpur due to her critical condition. Zikra, who was married in 2019, is survived by three young daughters.
Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar Singh said preliminary findings suggest the accused believed his neighbour was having an affair with his sister-in-law and that his sister was supporting the relationship. “The accused had earlier seen them in a compromising situation, which enraged him,” the SP said. The knife used in the crime has been recovered.
Accused Surrenders, Investigation Underway
Following the attacks, Dildar surrendered at the Thariaon police station and confessed to the crimes. Police have registered a murder case and are conducting further investigation. Officials also confirmed that the accused has a criminal history, with several cases already registered against him.
