Trump Gives Iran 10-Day Ultimatum to Strike Nuclear Deal or Face Consequences

The CSR Journal Magazine

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his stance on Iran, stating that the nation has approximately ten days to reach a substantial agreement with the United States or risk potential military action. At the inaugural Board of Peace summit in Washington, DC, Trump underscored the importance of negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

Trump remarked that the joint military actions taken by the United States and Israel against Iranian nuclear sites in June of the previous year created conditions conducive to the ceasefire in Gaza. He expressed that without the US’s military intervention, the regional dynamics would have obstructed the chances of achieving peace in the Middle East.

The President indicated that the next steps in the negotiations would soon unfold, asserting, “You will find out over the next probably ten days.” His comments came shortly after the second round of indirect discussions between US and Iranian officials.

Araghchi Cites Progress as US Boosts Gulf Forces

During this recent round of talks in Geneva, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, signalled noteworthy advancements in the negotiations, highlighting that both parties had reached broad agreements on guiding principles for a potential deal. Despite this progress, the US continues to escalate its military presence in the Gulf, deploying two aircraft carriers and numerous fighter jets.

Iran maintains that it does not seek nuclear weapons and has expressed willingness to limit its uranium enrichment under stringent international oversight. However, the Trump administration has firmly opposed any form of Iranian enrichment. Additionally, the US has aimed to impose restrictions on Iran’s missile capabilities, although Iranian officials have categorically stated that they would not entertain negotiations on this aspect, viewing it as a fundamental principle of national defense.

At the summit, Trump mentioned that his diplomatic aides, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, have engaged in productive discussions with Iranian representatives. He warned, “We have to make a meaningful deal. Otherwise, bad things happen.” The urgency conveyed in Trump’s rhetoric reflects the growing complexities surrounding US-Iran relations amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
