Delhi Transport Dept Warns Vehicles To Put HSRP and Color-Coded Stickers

The transport department in Delhi has launched a fresh warning against owners plying their vehicles without a high-security registration number plate (HSRP) and colour-coded stickers. Strict actions will be taken and no pollution under control (PUC) certificates will be issued to vehicles that do not have colour-coded stickers, indicating the fuel that the vehicle is running on.

What the Notice Said

“The Supreme Court has directed that PUC certificates will not be issued to vehicles unless they comply with the Motor Vehicle (High Security Registration Plates) Order, 2018, for display colour-coded stickers or third registration marks on the windshield of the vehicles,” states the transport department in a public notice.

“Non-compliance will also attract the provisions of section 192(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988…The vehicle owners are advised to ensure strict compliance with the aforesaid order,” the notice further stated.

As per section 192(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988, the owner will have to pay a fine or be imprisoned if their vehicle is not registered properly. HSRP is a unique registration plate that is designed to be tamperproof and difficult to counterfeit. It enhances the vehicle’s security and tracking.
