Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav actively participated in high-level discussions aimed at attracting global investment focused on logistics, supply chain networks, and infrastructure during the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress-2026), held in Dubai on September 8. The discussions included one-on-one sessions with various business leaders, particularly with Rizwan Soomar, the Chief Executive Officer of DP World. The central theme revolved around enhancing the operations of DP World in Madhya Pradesh.

During the meeting, both parties deliberated on the establishment of the Powarkheda Logistics Composite Hub, envisioned as a key inland logistics gateway. This hub is expected to offer multi-modal logistics, warehousing, and cold-chain facilities to cater to key industrial and agricultural sectors, thus facilitating smoother supply chains.

The conversations highlighted the importance of establishing direct links between regional exporters, major seaports, and significant global trade corridors. This initiative plans to optimise rail-based freight movement to minimise logistics costs and transit times, thereby offering better support to farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and manufacturing units.

New Policies to Attract Investment

Chief Minister Yadav informed Soomar about Madhya Pradesh’s newly implemented industrial policies aimed at enhancing investor advantages. The state boasts connectivity to every corner of India, alongside major ports, which has been further bolstered by the development of new airports. These advancements in transportation are anticipated to streamline logistics operations within the region.

DP World, a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai, is known for offering an integrated suite of supply chain and trade solutions. CEO Soomar revealed that the company has an estimated turnover of Rs 2,12,300 crore and operates in 80 countries, including India. This background sets the stage for potential collaborations with Madhya Pradesh.

The focus on logistics is crucial, especially given the state’s existing Inland Container Depot ecosystem, which aims to facilitate trade and enhance economic growth. By improving logistics infrastructure, the state seeks to position itself as a competitive storage and distribution hub.

Exploring Renewable Energy and Technology

In a separate meeting, Chief Minister Yadav conversed with Badr Jafar, the UAE Special Envoy for Business and Philanthropy and CEO of Crescent Enterprises. Their dialogue encompassed various topics, including renewable energy, industrial infrastructure, and sustainable urban projects. Both leaders expressed mutual interest in directing investment toward technology-driven enterprises.

The discussions also emphasised the importance of technology transfer and international partnerships, which could lead to scalable state-based startups and enhanced market access for local projects. Jafar expressed intent to explore investment opportunities in both information technology and infrastructure through his firm, Crescent Enterprises.

Chief Minister Yadav extended an invitation for Jafar to attend the Global Investors Summit (GIS-2027) in Madhya Pradesh, showcasing the state’s potential in sectors such as energy and logistics. Jafar indicated that he would participate alongside a delegation and personally engage with a group of 10 to 12 investors.
