iPhone 18 Pro Launch Scheduled for Tomorrow at 10 AM PT

The CSR Journal Magazine

The iPhone 18 Pro is set to be unveiled at Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event, taking place tomorrow at 10 am PT, which corresponds to 10:30 pm IST. This launch marks an important milestone for Apple, as it will be John Ternus’ first major event as CEO following Tim Cook’s transition to executive chairman on September 1. The event can be viewed via Apple’s website, the Apple TV app, and will also be available for live streaming on the official YouTube channel.

In addition to the iPhone 18 Pro series, other products may also be showcased, potentially including a foldable iPhone, new versions of the Apple Watch, and updated AirPods. Although the event on September 9 has been officially confirmed, specifics about the iPhone models have stemmed largely from leaks and speculation.

Expected Features of the iPhone 18 Pro Series

Design-wise, changes are anticipated to be minimal compared to the iPhone 17 Pro series. Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are likely to resemble their predecessors, with a focus on internal enhancements rather than an extensive redesign. However, the iPhone 18 Pro Max may be slightly bulkier to accommodate a larger battery.

Apple is reportedly introducing new colour options for the Pro models, which may include shades such as Dark Cherry, a deep red, and Sky Blue. While Silver is also mentioned, the inclusion of Space Black remains uncertain due to conflicting reports.

The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to retain the familiar 6.3-inch display. However, a notable alteration could be the redesign of the Dynamic Island, which is said to be reduced in size as Apple aims to optimise the space taken up by front-facing sensors.

Camera and Performance Innovations

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro series is likely to feature Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip, promising enhancements in performance and efficiency. Built using advanced 2nm technology, this new chip is anticipated to improve both speed and battery longevity, although it may result in increased costs for consumers.

Furthermore, the upcoming Pro models could incorporate Apple’s latest C2 modem, which aims to enhance connectivity and power efficiency. Photography enthusiasts might find the most exciting upgrade in a variable-aperture main camera, enabling greater flexibility in various lighting conditions. This feature reportedly may be exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

Additionally, a minor change to the Camera Control button is expected, simplifying its design to prevent accidental launches. While this is a relatively minor upgrade, it aims to improve user experience when handling the camera function.

In terms of battery, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is likely to feature a substantial 5,567mAh battery, which could result in the device being thicker and heavier than its predecessor but will likely provide improved longevity.

Potential Pricing for Indian Consumers

As for pricing, the iPhone 18 Pro series may see significant adjustments due to rising costs within the industry, particularly regarding RAM. This comes as Apple has previously increased prices for select MacBook and iPad models in response to higher supply chain expenses. Reports suggest that the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro could be priced between $1,099 and $1,199, which may lead to a price increase in India.

If Apple presumes the adverse effects of rising component costs, Indian prices could increase by approximately 10 per cent to 20 per cent, translating to an additional Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. Given that the iPhone 17 Pro debuted at Rs 1,34,900, the iPhone 18 Pro may begin around Rs 1,44,900 to Rs 1,49,900, with the Pro Max expected to exceed Rs 1.60 lakh.
