Teaser of ‘Toxic’ to Drop on February 20 Ahead of March Release

The CSR Journal Magazine

The makers of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups have announced that a new teaser will be unveiled on February 20 at 9:35 AM, marking the beginning of a major promotional push ahead of the film’s theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The film has been positioned as one of the biggest pan-India releases of the year.

Yash’s Much-Awaited Comeback

The project marks the return of Yash to the big screen after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2, which released in 2022 and became one of Indian cinema’s highest-grossing films. After a four-year gap, expectations are high for his next outing, especially given the scale and genre shift that Toxic promises.

Industry analysts suggest that the February 20 teaser will likely set the tone for an extensive promotional campaign across multiple languages and regions in the weeks leading up to release.

Controversy Over Earlier Promotional Video

The teaser launch follows controversy surrounding a promotional glimpse released in January on the occasion of Yash’s birthday. The video drew criticism for a sequence depicting intimacy inside a car parked near a cemetery, which later escalated into a violent altercation.

Objections were raised over the inclusion of religious imagery in the scene, particularly a statue resembling Archangel Michael. Several community groups expressed concern over what they described as insensitive portrayal.

Formal Complaints Filed

The National Christian Federation reportedly filed formal complaints with the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, the state’s Chief Secretary and Home Secretary, as well as the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Another complaint was also raised questioning whether the controversial sequence affected women’s modesty. As of now, there has been no official statement from the production team addressing the matter in detail. It remains unclear whether any changes have been mandated.

Directed by Geethu Mohandas, Star-Studded Cast

Toxic is directed by Geethu Mohandas, who has co-written the film along with Yash. The cast includes Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair, making it one of the most ensemble-driven projects of the year.

Box Office Face-Off

Upon its March 19 release, Toxic is expected to face box office competition from Dhurandhar, setting up a significant theatrical clash. Trade experts anticipate a strong opening for Yash’s film given his pan-India fan base, but the performance will ultimately depend on audience reception and critical response.

With anticipation high and controversy already stirring debate, the upcoming teaser will likely play a crucial role in shaping the film’s narrative ahead of its release.
