Surat Horror: Woman Drags and Assaults 7-Year-Old Brutally Over Doorbell Prank

The CSR Journal Magazine

A shocking incident from Surat has triggered public outrage after a seven-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted by a woman inside a residential society for ringing her doorbell as a prank. The disturbing episode, captured on CCTV, shows the woman dragging and slapping the child in the parking area of the apartment complex. Following the circulation of the video online, police detained the accused and initiated legal proceedings.

Doorbell Prank Turns Violent

According to police, the incident occurred on Saturday evening at Silicon Residency Society. The child, Devansh, was playing with other children when he repeatedly rang the doorbell of a neighbour’s flat and ran away, a prank commonly known as “ding-dong ditch.” The woman, identified as Apeksha Ritvik Vaishnav, allegedly grew enraged after the doorbell was rung multiple times while she was alone at home.

Woman Allegedly Drags and Beats Child

Police sources said that after noticing the boy ringing the bell again, the woman followed him to the parking area, grabbed him, dragged him along the floor, and slapped him repeatedly. CCTV footage shows the child crying, clinging to a pillar, and falling to the ground as the woman continues to assault him, while other children watch in shock.

Child Suffers Injuries, Father Files Complaint

The boy sustained multiple injuries, including bruises on his body, swelling on his right leg, and marks on his face and stomach. His father, Sudhirbhai Bholabhai Vaghasia, said he learned about the incident later that night and took his son to a hospital. After reviewing CCTV footage the next day, he filed a complaint at the Sarathana police station.

The child’s father, Sudhirbhai Bholabhai Vaghasia, said the incident occurred between 9 and 10 pm on January 9. “I was not aware of what had happened at the time. When I went downstairs around 10 pm, other children told me that my son had been beaten. I saw injury marks on his cheek and his eye was swollen,” he said.Vaghasia informed the building’s block head and checked the CCTV footage the following evening. “The footage clearly shows my son being dragged from a corner to a pillar and assaulted there. We then filed a complaint at the Sarathana police station the next morning,” he added.

Police Detain Accused, Investigation Ongoing

Police confirmed that the accused woman was detained and later recorded a video statement apologising for her actions. She admitted to hitting the child and said she lost her temper. Authorities stated that further legal action will be taken based on the complaint and video evidence.

Police later detained the accused woman, identified as Apeksha Ritvik Vaishnav. In a video statement recorded at the police station, she admitted to hitting the child and apologised.

“My name is Apeksha Ritvik Vaishnav. A boy from the building, Devansh, would ring my doorbell late at night and run away. He did this around six to seven times,” she said. “When it happened again, I waited near the door and saw him. I asked him his father’s name, but he said he didn’t know. I slapped him two or three times. It was my mistake, and I accept it. No one should make such a mistake.”

A senior police officer said, “The condition of the boy is stable… He has bruises on his body.” He added, “The woman apologised before us and we have uploaded a video on social media platforms. In it, she appealed to the people not to do such things, and said that she would not repeat such mistakes.”
