A six-year-old boy has tragically passed away during an MRI scan at a private diagnostic center located in Greater Noida. The child’s family is alleging medical negligence, claiming that he was given an incorrect or excessive dose of an injection prior to the procedure.
Prashant Kasana, the boy’s father, reported that the family brought the child to the center for the MRI and was informed that an injection was necessary before the test could proceed. Following the administration of this injection, the family’s accounts suggest that the child’s health began to decline rapidly, resulting in a loss of consciousness during the examination.
Allegations of Lack of Disclosure and Delayed Care
Family members expressed frustration over the lack of communication regarding the child’s deteriorating condition and the specifics of the medical report. They alleged that when they inquired about how their son was doing, the staff was unable to provide satisfactory information. It was claimed that the attending doctors mentioned the need to administer an additional dose of medication to the child. However, when the child did not show any signs of recovery, relatives transported him to a nearby private hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Community Response and Protests
The incident has led to significant community outrage, with family members accusing the staff at KB Healthcare Centre of grave negligence. Villagers and members of the Bharatiya Kisan Union congregated at the site to demonstrate against the hospital’s handling of the situation. Pawan Khatana, who serves as the state spokesperson for the union, stated that the child arrived at the facility around 10:30 am in stable condition. He alleged that the medical staff failed to disclose the dosage administered, raising concerns over the propriety of care given during the procedure.
Details of the Child’s Condition After MRI
Khatana added that after observing the child for nearly thirty minutes without any signs of regaining consciousness, the doctors re-evaluated the situation and found the child to be unresponsive and cold. This alarming discovery prompted the family to rush him to another private hospital, where he was subsequently declared dead. Khatana also raised alarm over the existence of numerous unregulated medical facilities operating in Greater Noida, calling for a detailed investigation into these establishments.
Police Involvement and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities were notified of the event and responded promptly to the scene. Protesters took the step of locking the healthcare center, demanding an unbiased investigation and stringent action against anyone found culpable. The Station House Officer from Beta 2 police station reported that the boy, who lived in Reelkha in Dankaur, had been taken to a private pathology lab in Sector P3 for the MRI scan. Following the administration of anesthesia, it was noted that the child’s health began to worsen, leading to his eventual transfer to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Post-Mortem and Legal Procedures Initiated
The police have arranged for a post-mortem examination of the child’s body while fulfilling all necessary legal requirements. According to officials, the situation at the location has reportedly remained calm, and further legal actions are currently underway to address the incident.
