The CSR Journal Magazine

A seven-year-old girl was discovered deceased in the basement of an under-construction mall in Ghaziabad’s Raj Nagar Extension early on Saturday morning. The girl’s family has claimed that she was allegedly gang-raped before her death. Her parents, employed as labourers at the construction site, reported her missing on Friday, July 10, at approximately 7.30 pm.

The family stated that they searched for the girl throughout the evening before deciding to contact the police to report her disappearance. The authorities later located her body in Basement-2 of the mall during the night.

At around 1.10 am on Saturday, Dial 112 received a call notifying them of a child’s body found at the construction site. A police team quickly arrived at the location, followed by senior officials. An investigation was initiated, with senior police personnel inspecting the scene.

Investigation Underway with Suspects Detained

Officials from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and a dog squad were summoned to gather evidence from the crime scene. Reports indicate that two individuals have been detained on suspicion and are currently undergoing questioning as part of the investigation.

The girl’s family alleges that she was lured into the mall with promises of snacks such as chips and soft drinks. They claimed that she was subsequently gang-raped and murdered, and that her body was unceremoniously disposed of in the basement.

However, police have not verified these allegations. Authorities have indicated that the exact cause of death, as well as whether the child was sexually assaulted, will be determined following a post-mortem examination.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

According to preliminary reports, the girl’s body was located in a pool of blood and contained visible injuries to her head. While there is a suspicion of sexual assault, law enforcement officials have stated that conclusive details will emerge following the post-mortem analysis.

Confirming the heartbreaking incident, Assistant Commissioner of Police Priya Sripal stated that the girl’s remains had been retrieved and a comprehensive investigation was in progress. A post-mortem examination was planned, and she indicated that a case had been registered based on the family’s complaint. Further legal measures are being taken.

Sripal mentioned that several individuals connected to the case have been detained for questioning to assist in the investigation. She emphasised the importance of gathering all factual information to ensure a complete understanding of the situation and the circumstances surrounding the girl’s tragic death.
