Bengaluru School Boy Dies; Family Questions Circumstances

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 12-year-old student, identified as Guru Kiran, passed away under suspicious circumstances at Sterling English Residential School in Devandahalli, Bengaluru, on Wednesday. His death sparked protests from family members and local residents, who are demanding accountability from the school authorities.

According to the school’s administration, Guru Kiran collapsed while jogging on the premises and was subsequently taken to a hospital. However, reports indicate he was declared dead before his parents could reach him. The incident has raised concerns regarding the conditions at the residential school.

Family’s Allegations and Concerns

The family of Guru Kiran has raised serious concerns, alleging that he may have suffered physical assault at the hands of teachers and experienced overwhelming pressure in the school environment. These allegations have not yet been substantiated by law enforcement agencies, and the official cause of death remains undetermined.

In an interview, Guru Kiran’s father, Raghavendra, shared that he had enrolled his son in the hostel following the completion of Class 5. He mentioned that Guru Kiran had not previously expressed any grievances about his time at school. “The school contacted me at around 6.45 am, informing me that my son had collapsed while jogging. When I inquired further, they indicated that his pulse had dropped but reassured me that he was okay,” he stated.

Upon his arrival at the hospital, Raghavendra discovered his son had died. Expressing deep concern over the circumstances of the incident, he questioned the possibility of a healthy boy suddenly collapsing. Raghavendra expressed his suspicion that something untoward must have occurred at the school, suggesting that his son might have been attacked.

Community Reaction and Protests

The death of Guru Kiran has led to heightened tensions in the community, prompting relatives and local residents to stage protests outside the school. Demonstrators accused the institution of negligence and demanded justice for the young boy. In an emotional display, Raghavendra obstructed a police vehicle, asserting that the school bore responsibility for his son’s untimely demise.

In response to the unrest, local law enforcement has deployed additional personnel around the school to maintain order. Authorities have also initiated an investigation into the situation to uncover the circumstances surrounding Guru Kiran’s death. The outcome of the investigation will be closely monitored by the community and media, as public distrust in the school administration grows.

As the situation unfolds, many in the community are calling for thorough scrutiny of the school’s practices and a reassurance that such incidents will not recur in the future. The investigation seeks to address the grave concerns voiced by the family and the wider community regarding the well-being of students enrolled at the institution.
