A 19-year-old woman hailing from Tripura was reportedly the victim of a severe physical attack by her live-in partner in Gurugram. The assault has left her critically injured, necessitating hospitalization at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. Authorities have arrested the suspect, identified as Shivam, also 19 years old, and a resident of Delhi. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.

Background of the Victim

The victim is a biotechnology student at GD Goenka University and had been cohabiting with Shivam in a paying guest accommodation situated in Sector 69 of Gurugram. Their acquaintance began in September 2025, during which discussions about potential marriage and family engagements had reportedly commenced.

Details of the Assault

According to the Gurugram Police, the incident was brought to light when the victim’s mother contacted the police, claiming that her daughter had been subjected to a vicious beating by her partner, who had expressed suspicions regarding her character. Officers responded promptly to the residence and took Shivam into custody.

Medical Status of the Victim

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Hitesh Yadav reported that the survivor was initially transported to a government hospital in Gurugram in critical condition. Given the extent of her injuries, she was subsequently referred to AIIMS, where she continues to receive medical care.

Investigation Update

Preliminary inquiries indicate that the couple had a disagreement late at night, which escalated and resulted in violence. A medical examination has verified that the victim sustained multiple serious injuries. Shivam has been charged and detained, with further investigations ongoing to clarify the series of events leading up to the incident and to determine the applicable legal charges.
