Saudi Arabia Sets Guinness World Record for Largest Saudi Ardah Performance at Qasr Al-Hukm

The CSR Journal Magazine

The recent celebration of Saudi Founding Day at Qasr Al-Hukm Palace in Riyadh established a remarkable world benchmark for the most extensive group performance of the Saudi Ardah. A total of 925 participants showcased this traditional sword dance during an artistic display that highlighted a captivating blend of culture and folk traditions. The event occurred on February 15, 2026, coinciding with Saudi Arabia’s commemoration of its founding. Notable attendees included the Prince of Riyadh Faisal bin Bandar and Deputy Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, along with over one hundred other royals.

Royal Patronage and Organizational Support

The celebration was held under the auspices of Prince Faisal bin Bandar and his deputy, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman. It was organised collaboratively by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City and the Governorate of the Riyadh Region. This well-coordinated event was aimed at showcasing the national heritage of Saudi Arabia in a manner that aligns with international standards, further establishing the kingdom’s footprint on the global stage.

The Significance of Saudi Ardah

Saudi Ardah stands as a vital representation of the kingdom’s cultural identity, reflecting the traditions and history of the area. This striking performance not only commemorated the Founding Day but also demonstrated the commitment to preserving and promoting Saudi culture. The achievement underscores Saudi Arabia’s efforts to elevate its cultural expressions to be recognized internationally. This is particularly significant, as a previous record was set in 2025 with 633 performers, who were also certified by Guinness World Records, showcasing a clear trajectory of growth in participation and recognition.

A Royal Decree and National Celebrations

The event was further contextualized by a royal decree from King Salman in 2022, which designated February 22 as a national celebration day. The decree aimed to honour the historical contributions of Imam Mohammed bin Saud, who is acknowledged for laying the foundations of the Saudi state in Diriyah in the year 1139 AH (1727 CE). This historical context adds depth to the celebrations, linking contemporary festivities with vital moments in Saudi history.

A Bright Future for Saudi Cultural Heritage

The overwhelming turnout and successful execution of the Ardah performance signify a burgeoning interest in Saudi cultural heritage, not only domestically but also internationally. As efforts continue to preserve and promote the nation’s rich traditions, events like these play a crucial role in enhancing national pride and fostering a sense of unity among citizens. The Saudi Ardah performance sets a precedent for future cultural events aimed at further elevating the kingdom’s cultural identity on global platforms.
