‘Hanuman Ansh’ Achieves Rs 200 Crore Milestone on Rs 2 Crore Budget

The CSR Journal Magazine

The devotional drama ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has officially joined the Rs 200-crore club, achieving a remarkable return of 100 times its initial Rs 2-crore budget. Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, this film is anchored in the teachings of the revered spiritual figure Neem Karoli Baba. Despite being a relatively unheralded release, it has surpassed more prominent competitors at the box office, including ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ and ‘Haiwaan.’

In its sixth week of release, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ registered its highest single-day earnings since the film’s debut. On Day 36, it collected Rs 10.50 crore, according to box office analysis from Sacnilk. This latest surge has allowed the film to reclaim the number-one position across Indian theatres, outshining previous chart leaders such as ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, which grossed Rs 9.50 crore, and new arrivals like the crime thriller ‘Haiwaan’, which opened with a modest Rs 3 crore.

Box Office Performance and Trajectory

As of Day 37, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ is being screened in 2,637 locations and has accumulated a net collection of Rs 2.25 crore, as reported by Sacnilk. This surge in performance is part of an unprecedented journey for the film, which opened with a relatively low collection of Rs 10 lakh on its first day and earned a total of Rs 1.48 crore over its first two weeks.

It was not until Day 16 that word-of-mouth momentum began to build, leading to extraordinary box office results in the following weeks. Notably, the film garnered Rs 61 crore in its fourth week and an impressive Rs 90 crore in the fifth week, indicating a remarkable growth in audience interest.

With a domestic net total now standing at Rs 175.88 crore, translating to a worldwide gross of Rs 207.81 crore ahead of its international rollout, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ has surpassed previous low-budget record holders, including ‘The Kashmir Files’, which had a production budget of Rs 15 crore. This significant achievement underscores the film’s exceptional return on investment.

Cast and Inspiration Behind the Film

‘Hanuman Ansh’ draws inspiration from the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, often referred to as Maharaj Ji. The film features Shobhinaw Satyaa in the role of Neem Karoli Baba and Vihaan Shedge portraying Maharaj Ji in a different phase of the story. The cast also includes notable actors such as Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil K Rastogi, and Gulshan Pandey, all of whom play key roles.

The film hit the theaters in India on August 7, 2026, and has since demonstrated a significant cultural impact alongside its financial success. The combination of an engaging narrative and a dedicated cast has contributed to its position in the competitive landscape of Indian cinema.

With its unforeseen trajectory and substantial box office success, ‘Hanuman Ansh’ stands as a testament to the potential of low-budget films in the Indian film industry. The film’s unique premise and strong word-of-mouth referrals have allowed it to carve out a notable presence in the current cinematic release environment.
