Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the Cockroach Janta Party, faced harassment from a group of individuals believed to be social media influencers during his visit to Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday. The purpose of Dipke’s visit was to meet the families of tribal children who reportedly died due to infectious diseases, as well as to assess local healthcare facilities.

A viral video captured the moment when a female influencer confronted Dipke while he was leaving in a vehicle. The influencer reportedly thrust a microphone towards him, questioning if he had come to “do politics on corpses” and expressed discontent over his late arrival. In the video, Dipke was heard responding that he apologised for the delay in his visit.

During his tour, Dipke visited the villages of Adori, Korka, and Bondari. The video also included the influencer making remarks about the newly constructed roads in the area, suggesting that improvements had been made. As tensions rose, workers accompanying Dipke guided him into another car to facilitate his departure. The influencer’s remarks included taunts regarding his departure, further intensifying the situation.

Response from Local Journalists

Local journalists expressed astonishment at the presence of the group of influencers from outside the region, speculating whether they were intentionally sent to disrupt the visit of the CJP founder. They noted the unusual nature of the confrontation, which drew attention to the ongoing issues surrounding healthcare and child welfare in the area.

This incident occurred amidst rising concerns regarding the health conditions in Balaghat, particularly following a recent public interest litigation (PIL) presented in the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The litigation alleged that over 30 children had died due to inadequate healthcare provisions, raising questions about the local government’s response to the situation.

In response to the PIL, the Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court ordered the state government to provide an explanation regarding the deaths. The division bench, led by Acting Chief Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Pradeep Mittal, issued notices to various departments, including the Health Department and the Women and Child Development Department, as well as the collector of Balaghat.

The PIL claimed that around 400 children were being treated at a healthcare facility that only had a capacity of 50 beds. This stark reality prompted significant concern from local communities and advocates for child health. The ongoing legal proceedings have heightened scrutiny on the healthcare system and the welfare of children in the region.
