Matthew Short struggled for fluency with 2 off 7, while Sarfaraz Khan briefly counterattacked with 17 off 12. Kartik Sharma added 18 off 15, but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, preventing any consolidation.

The only significant resistance came from Jamie Overton, who scored 43 off 36 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. However, he lacked support as Shivam Dube managed just 6 off 4, Noor Ahmad made 1 off 9, and Matt Henry added 5 off 7.

Rajasthan’s bowlers shared the workload effectively. Jofra Archer (2/19) and Nandre Burger (2/26) struck early blows, while Ravindra Jadeja (2/18) removed key middle-order batters. Ravi Bishnoi and Sandeep Sharma chipped in with one wicket each as CSK were bowled out in 19.4 overs.

CSK Batting Falters Again Under Pressure

Chennai Super Kings’ innings once again highlighted concerns around their top order, with the powerplay yielding just 41 runs for the loss of three wickets. The lack of partnerships proved costly, as no stand crossed 40 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja contributed with the ball for Rajasthan and also had an impact in the field, while MS Dhoni, featuring lower down the order, remained in the dugout and did not get an opportunity to bat in this match, reflecting how quickly CSK lost wickets.

The knock came on his birthday, making it a memorable performance as he dismantled the CSK bowling attack.

He shared a 75-run opening stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who remained unbeaten on 38 off 36 balls. The Royals raced to 74/0 in the powerplay, effectively taking the game away from CSK within the first six overs.

Dhruv Jurel added 18 off 9 before falling, while captain Riyan Parag stayed unbeaten on 14 off 11 to complete the chase comfortably.

CSK’s bowlers struggled throughout, with Matt Henry conceding 40 runs in 3 overs and Noor Ahmad giving away 24 in 2 overs. Anshul Kamboj picked up both wickets but could not stem the flow of runs.

Rajasthan Royals completed the chase with 47 balls to spare, underlining their dominance. Sooryavanshi was named Player of the Match for his match-winning innings.

The victory gives Rajasthan Royals 2 points to begin their IPL 2026 campaign strongly. Chennai Super Kings, meanwhile, will need to address their top-order concerns ahead of their next match against Punjab Kings on April 3, while Rajasthan Royals will face Mumbai Indians on April 7.
