Apple to Host Product Launch Event on October 28, Featuring Touchscreen MacBook Pro

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple is set to reveal its latest products on Wednesday, October 28. This event, dubbed “Pro and Tell,” follows the “Welcome Home” event held on October 13, where the company showcased its smart home devices. Unlike the conventional launch typically associated with Apple, this event will focus on a new range of products, including the much-anticipated touchscreen MacBook Pro.

Media representatives have already been invited to the event in Los Angeles, where they will have the opportunity to interact with the new devices. While Apple has not officially confirmed the specifics of the launch, various reports suggest a diverse lineup that may include a touchscreen MacBook Pro, a 14-inch M6 MacBook Pro, a new iMac, and an OLED iPad Mini.

According to industry insider Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the event promises to showcase significant advancements in Apple’s product offerings, particularly with the introduction of touchscreen technology in the MacBook Pro.

Features of the Touchscreen MacBook Pro

The touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to be a major highlight of the upcoming event. This model is likely to feature an OLED display and touchscreen capabilities for the first time in a MacBook. The design may also see changes, including the replacement of the current notch with the Dynamic Island feature seen in iPhones.

The transition to OLED technology could provide substantial benefits for creative professionals, as OLED panels can turn off individual pixels, resulting in deeper blacks and more vibrant colours. This enhancement could be particularly advantageous for tasks such as photo editing, video production, and movie viewing. However, it is worth noting that OLED displays may not achieve the same peak brightness levels as mini-LED panels.

Touchscreen functionality is another anticipated feature, allowing users to interact with the screen similarly to how they would on an iPad. However, Apple is expected to maintain the traditional keyboard and trackpad, ensuring that the touchscreen complements rather than replaces existing input methods. To address potential stability issues with touchscreen use, a reinforced hinge is reportedly being incorporated into the design.

Additional Product Updates Expected

In addition to the touchscreen MacBook Pro, Apple is expected to update its entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the new M6 chip, replacing the M5 chip introduced in October 2025. The design of this model is likely to remain unchanged, with the primary enhancement being the upgraded processor.

The 24-inch iMac is also anticipated to receive the M6 chip, while retaining its existing design. As with the MacBook Pro, the focus will be on internal improvements rather than external changes, although specific performance details have yet to be disclosed.

Furthermore, the iPad Mini 8 is rumoured to feature an OLED display for the first time outside the Pro lineup. This model may also undergo a design refresh, incorporating a vibration-based speaker system that could enhance water resistance. The iPad Mini 8 is expected to be powered by the A20 Pro chip, which is also anticipated to feature in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models.

Pricing for the iPad Mini 8 could see an increase, potentially reaching around $200 (approximately Rs 18,992) more than the current model, which starts at $599 (around Rs 56,883) in the US. The launch event is expected to take place on October 28, with some products possibly available for sale as early as November 6.

While pre-orders may begin on the day of the announcement, Apple has yet to confirm the exact schedule or the full range of products to be unveiled. The anticipated touchscreen MacBook Pro and OLED iPad Mini are among the most noteworthy developments expected from the upcoming event.
