The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is planning to implement significant changes within its administration, with Jagdish Aafle being identified as the leading candidate for the newly established secretary position, according to reports from India Today. This decision is part of a broader strategy to effectively oversee the growing activities associated with the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Sources have indicated that Aafle’s appointment is likely to be confirmed during the trust’s executive meeting scheduled for September 2. Interim General Secretary Krishna Mohan has validated that Aafle’s candidacy is under active consideration. Additionally, the trust is currently in search of a spokesperson, although no final decision has been reached on this front.

Profile of Jagdish Aafle

Aafle hails from Pune and possesses a strong academic background, having earned a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Technology from IIT Bombay. His professional journey includes experience in India, Europe, and the United States. After retiring, he returned to India and has been involved with the temple project since its early construction phase.

Initially taking on the role of honorary project manager, Aafle’s involvement was recommended by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Currently residing in Ayodhya with his wife on the trust’s grounds, Aafle has a significant history with the RSS, being connected to the organisation since his childhood.

The search for a new secretary comes amidst a backdrop of administrative adjustments prompted by a series of alleged financial irregularities within the organisation. Reports suggest that these changes aim to enhance governance and restore confidence in the trust as it navigates the ongoing issues surrounding donation management.

Background of Recent Controversy

Subsequent to the SIT’s report, law enforcement was prompted to register a case and eight individuals were arrested in connection with the alleged financial misconduct. The fallout from this controversy resulted in significant leadership changes, including the departures of General Secretary Champat Rai and trustee Anil Mishra from their positions.

As the trust tries to stabilise its operations and rebuild public trust, the forthcoming meeting on September 2 is expected to solidify Aafle’s appointment as secretary.
