Rajasthan & MP Under Watch: NIA Probes Hizb-ut-Tahrir’s Recruitment Activities

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out extensive searches across different locations in Rajasthan on Saturday morning as part of an ongoing investigation into a suspected terror conspiracy linked to the banned outfit Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT).

As per the agency officials it is suspected that HuT was actively involved in attempts to radicalise Muslim youngsters in the region.

Raids in Madhya Pradesh

Rajasthan wasn’t alone, there were raids in Madhya Pradesh, the focus of the operation in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh signals growing concerns over the emergence of radical networks in the states. The NIA has been intensifying its probe into HuT’s activities following intelligence inputs suggesting ideological indoctrination and recruitment efforts targeting vulnerable individuals in various districts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at two sites in Jhalawar, Rajasthan. The operation was carried out simultaneously with searches at three places in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Search operation underway

This search operation is a part of a larger case aimed at dismantling radical networks operating across the country. The investigation is linked to a suspected conspiracy by Hizb-ut-Tahrir (HuT).

According to official sources, the case is part of NIA’s broader crackdown on organisations attempting to disrupt national security and peace. The recent raids are seen as a strategic move to uncover sleeper cells and prevent the spread of extremist ideologies in sensitive regions like Rajasthan.

Digital devices seized

One of the NIA officials shared, “The youth were being motivated to spread violence in a bid to overthrow India’s democratically elected government and establish an Islamic State governed by Shariah law.”

During the raid, NIA seized digital devices and these devices have been sent for forensic analysis, the statement said.
