The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the state’s Statehood Day, celebrated on February 20. He acknowledged the vibrant and hardworking citizens of Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing their significant contribution to the nation’s progress.

Modi described the state as blessed with stunning landscapes and rich cultural diversity, highlighting it as a prime example of the harmony between tradition and nature. He stated that the residents play an essential role in the country’s advancement and expressed hope for the state to achieve new heights of development in the future.

Salutations to Mizoram

On the same day, the Prime Minister also reached out to the residents of Mizoram, congratulating them on their Statehood Day. He praised the strong community spirit and the warm nature of the people, acknowledging their embodiment of kindness and compassion.

Modi highlighted Mizoram’s renowned natural beauty and enduring cultural traditions, noting that the rich Mizo heritage, showcased through various cultural expressions, is a source of inspiration. He conveyed his wishes for Mizoram to continue along its path of growth and reach new milestones in the years ahead.

Historical Significance of Statehood Days

Arunachal Pradesh, known as “The Land of the Rising Sun,” shares borders with several nations, including Bhutan, China, and Myanmar. This unique geographical position enhances its strategic significance. The state’s transition from the North Eastern Frontier Agency (NEFA) to Union Territory in 1972 and its eventual attainment of statehood on February 20, 1987, underscore its historical importance within the Indian federation.

Similarly, Mizoram achieved statehood on the same date in 1987, becoming the 23rd state of India. This date is commemorated annually to honor Mizoram’s transition from Union Territory status to a full-fledged state, marking its journey towards greater autonomy within the Indian political framework.
