The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the Lok Sabha at 2 PM today during the ongoing budget session of Parliament. The address will focus on the current conflict in West Asia, highlighting India’s stance and the measures being undertaken to mitigate the situation.

Government’s Comprehensive Assessment

The Prime Minister’s Office, alongside the Cabinet Secretary, has prepared an extensive evaluation of the global circumstances and the actions implemented by various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India in response to the conflict. Key sectors such as agriculture, fertilisers, food security, petroleum, power, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), exporters, shipping, trade, finance, and supply chains were discussed to gauge the potential impacts.

Officials emphasized that the ongoing crisis in West Asia is likely to exert considerable short, medium, and long-term influences on the global economy. The assessment also included an evaluation of how these dynamics could affect India, leading to discussions on both immediate and sustainable counter-measures.

Securing Essential Resources

A thorough review of critical resources necessary for the populace was conducted, focusing on food, energy, and fuel security. The deliberations covered a range of strategies to ensure the uninterrupted availability of essential items for citizens during this tumultuous period.

The impact on farmers and their fertilizer requirements for the upcoming Kharif season has been scrutinized. Government actions in recent years to maintain sufficient fertilizer stocks are expected to facilitate timely availability and bolster food security. Alternative sources of fertilizers have also been identified to secure continued access in the future.

To prevent electricity shortages, it was determined that maintaining an adequate supply of coal at all power plants is crucial. This proactive approach aims to ensure consistent energy availability across the nation.

Diversifying Imports and Export Strategies

Discussions also centered around diversifying import sources essential for various industrial sectors, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals. Furthermore, efforts to identify new export markets to enhance the reach of Indian goods are underway.

Recognizing the fluidity of the conflict, Prime Minister Modi stated that the situation affects nations globally. He stressed the importance of proactive measures to shield citizens from the repercussions of this crisis. He instructed all government bodies to collaborate effectively to minimize any disruptions faced by the public.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance of coordinated efforts with state governments to prevent black-marketing and hoarding of critical commodities. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that essential items remain accessible to the citizens throughout the ongoing crisis.
