The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Nice, France, marking the beginning of his two-nation visit. This trip is part of a week-long journey that will also take him to Slovakia, with the latter forming the second leg of his schedule. The Prime Minister is expected to hold significant discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron during his stay.

Upon arrival, PM Modi was greeted by a delegation of distinguished French officials, which included Minister of Education Edouard Geffray, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Space Philippe Baptiste, and Thierry Mathou, the French Ambassador to India. The reception underscores the importance of the bilateral relations between India and France.

Scheduled Bilateral Meeting and Innovation Conclave

As part of his itinerary, PM Modi is scheduled for a bilateral meeting with President Macron on Sunday, June 14, in the city. This meeting aims to discuss various aspects of the India-France relationship, which has been elevated to a Special Global Strategic Partnership earlier this year. The leaders are expected to review the entire spectrum of diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.

In addition to the bilateral talks, PM Modi will inaugurate the Bharat Innovates 2026, a three-day innovation conclave organised by the Indian government, which will also be attended by President Macron. This event aims to foster collaboration among leading innovation startups and Venture Capital funds from India, France, and several other countries. The initiative is expected to enhance cooperation in technology and innovation.

The events planned during PM Modi’s visit signify the growing importance of partnerships between India and France, particularly in the fields of innovation and technology. Both nations are keen to boost collaborative efforts that can lead to shared advancements.

Visit to Slovakia and G7 Summit Participation

Following his visit to France, PM Modi will travel to Slovakia for a state visit on June 14 and 15. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since its independence in 1993. In Slovakia, PM Modi will engage in talks with President Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties. The discussions are expected to cover various domains such as trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.

During his time in Slovakia, PM Modi will also interact with business leaders, underscoring the potential for economic collaboration. This visit reflects India’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Central and Eastern Europe, aligning with its broader foreign policy objectives.

Upon completing his visit to Slovakia, PM Modi will return to France on June 16 to participate in the G7 Summit at Evian. This high-profile multilateral event is poised to address several pressing global issues. Notably, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral talks with US President Donald Trump on June 17, with a primary focus on ongoing discussions regarding a trade agreement. This engagement highlights India’s strategic role in international trade and its significance as a partner in discussions at the G7 level.
