A passenger aboard an IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Varanasi attempted to open the emergency exit of the aircraft twice, causing alarm among passengers. The event occurred on March 28 during flight 6E 185. Sources indicate that crew members first spotted the individual trying to interfere with the emergency exit at mid-flight. A second attempt was made shortly before the aircraft was set to land in Varanasi.

Cabin Crew Intervenes to Maintain Safety

The cabin crew acted promptly to prevent any potential breach, ensuring the safety of everyone on board. Standard operating procedures were adhered to, allowing the situation to be managed without further escalation. The aircraft landed safely at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at approximately 10:35 PM, without the need for a go-around due to the passenger’s actions.

Passenger Handed Over to Airport Security

Upon landing, the passenger was immediately turned over to airport security personnel, including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), in accordance with established protocol. The individual has been identified as Mohammad Adnan, a resident of Mau district in Uttar Pradesh. Authorities have filed a case against him under pertinent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and he is currently in custody.

Background and Current Investigation

Police reports indicate that the accused had recently returned from a trip to Goa. During initial questioning, he allegedly claimed that he was unaware that pressing a button could result in the opening of the aircraft door. Multiple agencies, including the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), are also involved in the interrogation process as further investigations continue.
