Pakistan Mobile Towers Near Border Trigger Security Alert in Jaisalmer

Pakistan has recently installed mobile towers near the international border in Jaisalmer, and it has a reach approximately 3-4 kilometres into the Indian territory. As a precautionary measure, security arrangements have been tightened near the international border in Jaisalmer. A ban has been imposed on the use of Pakistani local SIM cards, and night movement in the village has been restricted. Authorities have issued fresh guidelines, and the entry of foreign nationals into protected areas has been banned.

Serious threat from Pakistan

In light of the growing threat from across the border, District Collector and District Magistrate Pratap Singh Nathawat stated that security measures have been taken due to the serious threat posed by the mobile towers installed by Pakistan across the international border which have a range of over 4 kilometres into Indian territory. “The use of Pakistani local SIM cards has been banned here under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023.”

Nathawat further shared that there is a ban on the free movement of residents in villages located within a 5-kilometer radius from 6 pm to 7 pm. This restriction will be in place till April 30.

Villages falling under the restriction include Kishangarh, Tanot, Sadhewala, Ghotaru, Longewala, Ganeshia, Langtala, Ratdau, Liloi, and some parts of Pokhran tehsils. As per the latest orders, movement in this area will be restricted, requiring permission from the competent authority. The only exception will be for administrative employees and the Border Security Force.

Direction by Home Department

The Home Department has issued a directive for foreign nationals: There will be restrictions and strict regulation on their movement near the border. Additional District Magistrate Parsaram issued an advisory stating that prior permission will be required if any foreign national wants to enter protected areas for any purpose.

Tourist operators, guides, hotel owners, and film coordinators have also been instructed not to permit foreign nationals to access protected areas without the required authorization.
