Actor Shilpa Shinde has expressed strong sentiments against women who allegedly did not back her during her conflicts with the creators of the show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. She labelled these women as ‘nonsense’, asserting that they only chose to criticise her instead of providing support during her challenging times. This comment comes shortly after she retracted previous allegations of sexual harassment against producer Sanjay Kohli, calling them false.
In a recent interview, Shinde articulated her frustration, stating that those who spoke negatively about her lacked understanding of the difficulties faced by women in adverse situations. She emphasised that had they offered assistance when it was required, she might not have found herself in the controversial position she is in now.
Shinde’s remarks reflect her ongoing struggle and bitterness as she believes these critics failed to acknowledge her hardships. According to her, their only response was to accuse her of abandoning the show without considering her circumstances. She reiterated her unwillingness to compromise her self-respect.
Response to Criticism and Defence of Actions
Shilpa Shinde defended her earlier actions during the controversy, asserting that she chose to discredit the producer as a reaction to feeling unjustly accused. She claimed that her motivations were misunderstood and conveyed her belief that her initial response to the situation was justified. By asserting that others had similarly discredited her, Shinde maintained that she was not entirely in the wrong.
The origins of this controversy can be traced back to Shinde’s long-standing disputes with the production team of the show. On a podcast, she disclosed that she had initially filed the sexual harassment complaint out of desperation, believing she had no other options available to her. Following the controversy, she indicated that the matter was eventually resolved, with outstanding payments settled, leaving some questioning her original complaints.
The National Council for Men’s Affairs subsequently sought action from the Mumbai Police, criticising Shinde’s actions post-admission. Numerous actresses, including Hina Khan, publicly condemned Shinde’s earlier claims and urged for accountability in light of her retraction.
