Newborn Abducted from Delhi Hospital Recovered; One Arrested

The CSR Journal Magazine

A newborn, born on February 14, was reported abducted from BSA Hospital in Delhi. Police received information at 9 a.m. regarding the kidnap, prompting immediate action from the North Rohini police station. Utilizing technical surveillance and investigative measures, officers apprehended a suspect on the Meerut Expressway later that day and successfully recovered the child. Additional Commissioner of Police Rajiv Ranjan confirmed the developments, stating that the child was taken during early morning hours.

Suspects Identified and Arrested

The arrested individual has been identified as a 40-year-old woman residing in Noida. She is allegedly linked to a 20-year-old accomplice named Ahivaran Saxena. Ranjan indicated that the woman played a significant role in the abduction and is currently in police custody. Further questioning will take place as authorities delve into the details of the case. Historical investigations into previous kidnappings revealed no involvement from hospital personnel, suggesting that this incident may share similar characteristics.

Police Appeal and Public Awareness

During inquiries on safeguarding against such incidents, Ranjan advised the public to exercise caution, particularly with unfamiliar individuals. He highlighted that the accused gained the trust of the child’s mother in a short period, ultimately leading to the abduction. At approximately 5 a.m., the suspect persuaded the mother to rest while she took care of the newborn. When family members searched for the child hours later, they realized the mother’s trust had been misplaced. The police have stressed the importance of vigilance in protecting children and urged parents to be wary of rapidly fostering trust with strangers.
