Mumbai Traffic Police Enforces Three-Month No-Parking Rule In Malad East

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Mumbai Traffic Police has imposed a three-month ban on unauthorised parking along a key stretch of Kurar Village Road in Malad East, in a move aimed at easing chronic congestion in the area. The restriction applies to both sides of the road between Akash Pan Shop and Babaji Konse Marg, a section that has long witnessed traffic bottlenecks during peak hours.

According to officials, the decision comes after repeated complaints from commuters and local residents about slow-moving traffic and safety concerns for pedestrians. The no-parking rule will remain in force for three months, during which enforcement teams will monitor compliance and take action against violators.

Narrow Road And Daily Congestion Trigger Action

Kurar Village Road is a narrow but busy connector in Malad East, frequently used by office-goers, local residents, and commercial vehicles. Illegal roadside parking had significantly reduced the available carriageway, often forcing vehicles to move in single file and causing long queues during rush hours.

Traffic officials noted that the congestion was not only delaying commuters but also creating difficulties for emergency vehicles and increasing the risk of minor accidents. Pedestrians were also being forced to walk on the road due to blocked footpaths, adding to safety risks.

The ban is intended to restore full road width and ensure smoother traffic flow, especially during morning and evening peak periods.

Official Notification And Enforcement Plan

In an official notification, the traffic police stated that the no-parking regulation would be strictly enforced for the next three months. Vehicles found parked illegally along the notified stretch are likely to face fines and towing as per existing traffic regulations.

The enforcement drive will involve regular patrolling and surprise checks to deter violations. Officials have indicated that the situation will be reviewed after the three-month period to assess whether the measure has led to sustained improvements in traffic movement.

Citizens Urged To Cooperate With Authorities

Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Ajit Borade has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the administration by adhering to the new parking restrictions. He emphasised that the measure has been introduced in public interest to reduce inconvenience and improve road safety.

Motorists have been advised to use designated parking areas and avoid stopping along the restricted stretch. The traffic police have also urged residents and shop owners in the vicinity to support the initiative to ensure its effectiveness.

The temporary ban is part of broader efforts by the Western Suburbs Traffic Police to manage congestion hotspots across the western suburbs and improve overall commuting conditions in the city.
