Mohanlal, the acclaimed Malayalam actor, has pledged his support to Operation Toofan, an initiative launched by the Kerala Police aimed at combating drug abuse. He expressed his commitment to the cause by announcing his role as a “Toofan Warrior” during a recent meeting with Kerala’s Home Minister, Ramesh Chennithala.

In a social media post featuring a video of the meeting, Mohanlal emphasised the importance of public participation in the campaign titled “Operation Toofan – The Narco Hunt.” The initiative seeks to dismantle the drug mafia operating within the state, underlining the severity of the drug problem affecting various communities.

Mohanlal’s Message to the Public

During the meeting, Mohanlal articulated his long-held aspiration to see a stronger fight against drug use in Kerala. He described Operation Toofan as a significant milestone in efforts to protect families and young people from the gripping impact of substance abuse. He expressed gratitude to Minister Chennithala for initiating the project, which he believes could pave the way for a healthier society.

The actor conveyed his hope that Operation Toofan would evolve into a genuine “toofan,” or storm, signifying a powerful movement against narcotics in the state. He also presented details of the “Be A Hero, Say No To Drugs” project developed by the Viswasanthi Foundation, demonstrating his readiness to collaborate with law enforcement to bolster the campaign’s effectiveness.

Minister Chennithala’s Response

In response to Mohanlal’s commitment, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala assured him that Operation Toofan represents a sustained effort and is backed by people from various political backgrounds. He reiterated that the initiative aims for enduring impact rather than being a temporary measure.

As a gesture of appreciation for the actor’s involvement, Chennithala presented Mohanlal with a badge reading, “I am a Toofan Warrior,” symbolising the partnership between the actor and Kerala Police. This emblem serves not only as recognition but also as an invitation for others to join the fight against drug abuse.

Also present at the meeting was North Zone IG Putta Vimaladitya, who underscored the collective will to combat the drug menace in Kerala. The involvement of such prominent figures highlights the seriousness of the initiative and its broad-based support across different segments of society.
