Bengaluru Horror: Man Comes Home Drunk, Beaten to Death by Wife With Ragi Rolling Pin

A very shocking incident has come to light from Bhavani Nagar, Bengaluru. A 42-year-old civil engineer from Suddaguntepalya, Bhaskar, was beaten to death by his wife. This comes after an alleged altercation with his wife, Shruthi, 33. The wife has now been arrested on charges of murder.

According to reports the incident occurred on the night of June 27 at their residence in Bhavani Nagar, South Bengaluru. The police stated that Shruthi admitted to striking her husband with a wooden stick during a violent confrontation. Shruthi when questioned said she acted in self-defence.

Man Comes Home Drunk

Meanwhile, the police also stated that Bhaskar had been living away from his wife and two daughters for the past two months. Bhaskar was allegedly residing with a domestic help with whom he was reportedly having an affair.

Reports suggest that on the night of the incident, Bhaskar returned home around midnight, heavily intoxicated, to collect his SUV. A heated argument ensued when he encountered Shruthi, She reportedly tried to prevent him from driving in his inebriated state to prevent any mishap.

During the questioning, Shruthi told authorities that Bhaskar became physically abusive. She also claimed that he attempted to throw her and their daughters out of the house. In an act of self-defence, she picked up a wooden cooking stick. A rolling pin typically used to make ragi mudde and struck him on his head. She later helped him lie down and assumed he had fallen asleep.

Initial Cover-Up and Postmortem Revelations

Initial investigation revealed that Bhaskar died after being struck by the wooden stick. On the other hand, Shruthi initially claimed Bhaskar had slipped in the bathroom and died in his sleep. Bengaluru police registered an Unnatural Death Report (UDR). Bhaskar’s body has been sent for postmortem at the hospital.

However, the autopsy revealed multiple blunt-force injuries and internal trauma, leading investigators to question her version of events. Upon confrontation with the medical findings, Shruthi confessed to hitting her husband but denied intending to kill him.

Years of Abuse and Neglect Alleged

Further investigations and findings revealed a completely different story. Shruthi reportedly told police she had suffered years of neglect and domestic abuse. Though the family earned around Rs 1.5 lakh per month from rental income. She also stated that Bhaskar allegedly gave her only Rs 5,000 for household expenses.

Shruthi also revealed that he was spending the rest of the money on alcohol and his extramarital affair. Bhaskar reportedly had no living parents or siblings. Bhaskar was previously divorced and had been married to Shruthi for 12 years.

Legal Proceedings and Family Welfare

As of now, Shruthi has been remanded to judicial custody. Police say they are considering her claims of self-defence and a history of domestic violence in the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the couple’s two daughters are now in the care of their maternal grandmother.

The officials have further advised that the rental income be directed toward their welfare and education.
