Maharashtra Bank Staffer Dies by Suicide After Dog Bite, Fearing Rabies

A 30-year-old bank employee reportedly took his own life in the Tisgaon Naka area of Kalyan, Maharashtra, following fears of having contracted rabies from a dog bite. The individual, identified as Aayush Vishwanath Amin, was a resident of Sahajeevan Society and had been employed at the Thane branch of Bharat Bank for eight years.

Dog Bite and Subsequent Actions

Amin suffered a bite on the leg from a stray dog a few days prior to the incident. Following the bite, he received only one dose of anti-rabies vaccination. Family members observed significant changes in his behavior in the four days leading up to the tragic event, which raised concerns amongst them.

Final Hours and Discovery

On the evening of the incident, when home alone, Amin allegedly ended his life. Authorities found a suicide note at the scene, wherein he expressed his fears regarding the onset of rabies symptoms.

Police Investigation and Report

The Kolsewadi Police Station has registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) concerning the case. Senior Police Inspector Gurav has confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
