Madhya Pradesh Woman Detained After Abducting Minor Following Instagram Romance

The CSR Journal Magazine

A 21-year-old woman from Madhya Pradesh has been apprehended by law enforcement in Surat for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old boy from Gujarat. The woman, referred to as Mona (name changed), is said to have developed a relationship with the minor, identified as Raj (name changed), hailing from Virpur in Rajkot district, through Instagram over the past year and a half.

Authorities reported that the two individuals engaged in regular online communications, sharing personal information and gradually enhancing their camaraderie into a romantic relationship. They allegedly made commitments to be together, which prompted concerns when Mona’s family discovered the nature of their relationship and sought to arrange her marriage elsewhere.

In reaction to this situation, Mona reportedly decided to elope with the minor. On March 6, she left her residence without notifying her relatives and initially traveled to Mumbai. Following her time in the city, she returned to Surat accompanied by Raj.

Meanwhile, Raj’s family had expressed concerns over his whereabouts and reported him missing. This led the police in Rajkot to initiate a kidnapping investigation and file a formal complaint to locate the minor.

A significant breakthrough occurred when the SHE team of the Surat Railway Police was conducting a patrol on Platform No. 1. Officers observed a young woman and a teenage boy exhibiting nervous behavior in the waiting area, raising suspicion about their circumstances. During their inquiry, the police discovered that Raj’s family had officially reported him as missing, which confirmed their concerns.

The Surat Railway Police promptly reached out to the Rajkot Police to validate the details surrounding the case. As a result, a team from Rajkot arrived in Surat late on March 9 to assist in the investigation.

After fulfilling the necessary legal protocols, the Surat Railway Police transferred both the woman and the minor to the Rajkot Police for further questioning. Officials noted that this swift intervention was crucial in reuniting the minor with his family and underscored the effectiveness of railway police vigilance teams in addressing potential criminal activities involving minors.
