Madhya Pradesh CM Yadav Launches ₹225 Crore Development Initiative in Former Naxal-affected Balaghat

The CSR Journal Magazine

On Saturday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited Bondari village, a locality previously affected by Naxal activity, as part of the Jan-Vishwas Abhiyan initiative. During his visit, he interacted with local villagers to learn about their current conditions, discuss pressing issues, and assess their access to various government benefits.

Direct Engagement in Former Conflict Zones

In addition to his visit to Bondari, CM Yadav made impromptu stops at two other locations—Korka and Devarbeli—also known for their history of Naxal violence. At these stops, he engaged directly with villagers, gathering information about the advantages they were reaping from ongoing government initiatives. He underscored the necessity of drawing these areas into the national mainstream and ensuring that residents benefit from development efforts.

Major Development Initiative Announced

During his visit, CM Yadav announced a substantial ₹225 crore development scheme aimed at enhancing various aspects of life in 100 villages across Balaghat. The initiative seeks to fortify social infrastructure and create job opportunities in regions that have previously struggled due to Naxal influence. Emphasising a dual commitment to ‘security with development and development with employment,’ he outlined that upcoming efforts would prioritise basic infrastructure improvements, including roads, electricity, potable water, educational facilities, and healthcare services.

Comprehensive Development Across Multiple Sectors

The ₹225 crore initiative will involve collaborative development efforts executed through various government departments. These include Panchayat and Rural Development, Energy, Education, Industries, Women and Child Development, AYUSH, Food, Fisheries, Health, Public Health Engineering, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Tribal Affairs, and Tourism. CM Yadav articulated a vision where the focus extends beyond mere construction of roads to also include establishing connections between markets and villages, as well as linking youth with employment opportunities.

Promoting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and local industries is a key aspect of the initiative. The Chief Minister noted that sectors such as agriculture, dairy farming, animal husbandry, fisheries, horticulture, and food processing will be developed to boost the income of rural households.

Empowerment of Women and Youth

The CM also highlighted the importance of empowering women through self-help groups and stimulating small business activities. He expressed the need to equip the youth with relevant skills and training, thereby transforming them into job creators rather than mere job seekers. This strategy aims to foster a self-sufficient local economy that encourages entrepreneurship among the younger population.

Focus on Tourism and Cultural Heritage

In light of the region’s natural resources and rich cultural legacy, CM Yadav mentioned the potential for promoting tourism, eco-tourism, and tribal tourism in Balaghat. This focus on tourism is intended to contribute to the local economy and enhance the overall development of the area.

In conclusion, the initiative of ₹225 crore represents a concerted effort by the Madhya Pradesh government to uplift the formerly Naxal-affected regions through comprehensive development strategies, thereby ensuring a prosperous future for its residents.
