The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, attended the state-level Engineers’ Day event on September 15 at the Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium in Bhopal. The programme aimed to honour the engineers, officials, joint teams, and construction agencies for their significant contributions to infrastructure development in the state. During the ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research—Advanced Materials and Processes Research Institute (CSIR-AMPRI) located in Bhopal.

Recognition of Exceptional Contributions

During the event, Chief Minister Yadav also introduced a collection of circulars published by the PWD, illustrating the department’s ongoing efforts. He took the opportunity to extend his warm greetings to the people of Madhya Pradesh and the broader nation on the occasion of Engineers’ Day, highlighting the legacy of the esteemed engineer Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. “Today, on Engineers’ Day, I express my greetings to the people of Madhya Pradesh and India. Before our country gained independence, we had an outstanding engineer who earned global recognition for his contributions to the engineering sector,” stated CM Yadav.

In his address, the Chief Minister underscored various initiatives implemented by the PWD aimed at recognising the achievements of engineers and construction agencies. He elaborated on the introduction of several awards, such as the Rani Durgavati Award, Vikramaditya Award, Raja Bhoj Award, and the Mokshagundam Award, to honour exemplary engineers and agencies. He noted that such recognition injects new vitality into the department and presents opportunities for prospective advancements.

Innovative Approaches in Infrastructure Development

Continuing on the theme of innovation, Chief Minister Yadav stated that the PWD is pursuing future-oriented initiatives in infrastructure development. This includes a focus on constructing environmentally friendly buildings. He emphasised that the PWD has made strides by signing an MoU with CSIR-AMPRI to adopt a progressive approach, particularly towards green building projects.

The Chief Minister expressed that the department is keen on integrating the private sector into its plans while advancing on road construction through its own initiatives. He mentioned the Build Operate Transfer (BOT) model as a strategy to facilitate progress in this area. His remarks reflected the government’s ongoing commitment to adopting forward-thinking methods in infrastructure development.

In conclusion, CM Yadav affirmed that the government is striving for excellence in infrastructure through good governance, leveraging the innovations brought forth by the PWD. These efforts aim to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of infrastructure projects across Madhya Pradesh.
