Caught on Cam: Lucknow Milkman Spits in Milk Meant for Lord Shiva Offerings, Arrested!

A shocking incident has been caught on camera in Lucknow’s Gomti Nagar area. Here, a milkman was allegedly seen spitting into a milk container before handing it over to a customer. The accused is identified as Mohammad Sharif, also known as Pappu. Sharif was delivering milk to the home of Luv Shukla when the incident occurred. Shukla is a resident of Vinay Khand.

Milk Intended for Lord Shiva’s Offerings Spoiled

The incident drew strong reactions after Shukla revealed that the milk was regularly used for religious offerings to Lord Shiva. Deeply disturbed, Shukla said his religious beliefs were desecrated by the milkman’s actions. He further called for strict legal action against Sharif.

Meanwhile, the timing of the incident comes during the ongoing Kanwar Yatra. This has further intensified public anger, as milk plays a significant role in Shiva worship and offerings during this period.

Shukla’s family filed a complaint at the Gomti Nagar police station. During the investigation, it was revealed that the man’s real name was Mohammad Sharif. He had been distributing milk under the alias Pappu.

“Spit Jihad” Allegation Sparks Political Reactions

Following the revelation, the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha intervened, with spokesperson Shishya Chaturvedi accusing the accused of engaging in “spit jihad”. A term used to allege intentional contamination with communal undertones. Chaturvedi demanded that Sharif be booked under the National Security Act (NSA). He cited a growing trend of similar incidents in the state.

“CCTV footage has been obtained that reportedly shows the milkman spitting into the milk. The police are currently investigating and will take appropriate action,” said senior local police official Shashank Singh. “The milk delivered is also offered at the Shivling during Sawan. What he did is not only unhygienic, it’s deeply disrespectful and criminal,” he added.

Police Investigation Underway

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Brijesh Tiwari of Gomti Nagar police station, the accused has been detained and is under interrogation. Senior officer Shashank Singh confirmed that police have obtained the CCTV footage and are conducting a thorough investigation. Authorities have assured that appropriate legal action will follow based on the findings.

Gomtinagar Police Station SHO Brijesh Chandra Tiwari stated that a case has been registered and the accused has been taken into custody. “Further investigation is underway to determine if similar acts were committed elsewhere,” he said.

The incident in Lucknow adds to a disturbing series of food contamination cases reported in Uttar Pradesh. Last year in Saharanpur, a teenager was caught on video spitting on rotis at a restaurant. Similar cases emerged in Ghaziabad and Noida, where juice vendors were arrested for allegedly mixing bodily fluids into drinks.

CM Yogi Adityanath Orders Crackdown on Food Adulteration

In response to repeated instances of food tampering, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier introduced stringent measures, including mandatory CCTV in food outlets, improved hygiene standards, staff background checks, and amendments to the Food Safety and Standards Act.

The recent Lucknow case is expected to fuel further calls for strict enforcement and legal reforms to protect public health and religious sensitivities.
