Lucknow District Magistrate Urges Public Not to Hoard Fuel, Says There is No Shortage

The CSR Journal Magazine

In Lucknow, the District Magistrate, Visakh G Iyer, has addressed concerns regarding fuel availability, encouraging residents not to stockpile fuel. During a conversation with media representatives, Iyer emphasized the local administration’s diligence in ensuring sufficient fuel reserves. He pointed out that the rise in demand at petrol stations prompted a proactive meeting with oil marketing companies.

According to Iyer, the demand for fuel in Lucknow surged by approximately 30-35% recently. He reassured residents, stating that there are no shortages and urged them to refrain from hoarding. “The police and local administration are vigilant in making sure that all petrol pumps remain adequately stocked,” Iyer noted. His remarks came as part of ongoing efforts to monitor fuel supply levels and address public concerns.

Government Confirms Adequate National Fuel Supply

The Government of India has also communicated that the national fuel supply remains stable despite global geopolitical tensions, particularly in West Asia. A statement from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas emphasized that retail fuel outlets across the nation are functioning normally. Citizens have been advised to disregard rumors and avoid panic purchases that could disrupt supply chains.

In its official statement, the ministry reiterated confidence in the country’s fuel reserves, explicitly confirming that petrol and diesel stocks at petrol stations nationwide are sufficient. “The public should not fall prey to false information,” the ministry stated, seeking to alleviate any fears regarding potential shortages.

Operational Readiness of Refineries and LPG Supply

The government highlighted that all refineries are operating at full capacity to maintain a consistent energy supply. “We have ensured that crude inventories are also adequate,” the ministry added. This commitment extends to the production of domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which has been increased to meet national consumption requirements.

Officials noted that while the closure of the Strait of Hormuz may have implications for supply chains, measures have been put in place to secure LPG and other petroleum products across the country. The ministry confirmed that no LPG distributors have reported shortages, and domestic deliveries continue as scheduled.

With these reassurances from local and national authorities, the public is encouraged to remain calm and avoid unnecessary panic buying that could lead to disruptions in fuel availability and supply chains. The ongoing management of fuel distribution aims to ensure that all consumers have access to the resources they need without causing undue distress in the community.
