Bihar’s Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, has announced that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a tender to upgrade Saharsa Airport, valued at ₹42.52 crore. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance air connectivity in the Kosi region.

The tender release was shared by the Chief Minister on the social media platform X, where he expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support for improving the region’s infrastructure.

The Chief Minister described the airport project as a historic step towards establishing consistent air services for Saharsa and its surrounding areas. He remarked that this development would be a major boon for the entire Kosi region, thereby facilitating better transportation options for local residents.

The project is anticipated to lead to various improvements in regional accessibility, which could positively influence economic activities, support trade, and promote tourism in the area.

Land Allocation for Infrastructure Development

In support of the airport development, the Bihar state government will provide 12 acres of land. This land allocation is estimated to cost ₹147 crore. The transfer of this land, along with the proposed enhancements to the airport’s infrastructure, is hoped to expedite the establishment of air services in Kosi.

Chief Minister Choudhary highlighted the importance of this land provision in ensuring swift air connectivity not only for Saharsa but also for the broader Kosi area. He stated that the government’s commitment to improving regional infrastructure aligns with wider efforts to boost economic growth in Bihar.

The upgrade is expected to create a new transportation link crucial for one of Bihar’s important regions, which has historically faced challenges related to connectivity. Local officials are optimistic that this development will attract investment and foster job creation in the area.

Acknowledgement of Academic Achievements

Students who secured the top position received a reward of ₹2 lakh, while those in the second and third positions were awarded ₹1.5 lakh and ₹1 lakh, respectively. Intermediate students ranking fourth and fifth were granted ₹30,000 each, and Matriculation students placed fourth to tenth received ₹20,000 each. All 168 students were also given ₹51,000 to purchase laptops, thereby facilitating their educational journeys.

During the ceremony, Chief Minister Choudhary emphasised that these accomplished students represent a promising future for Bihar. He expressed confidence in their potential contributions to the state’s development and urged them to continue striving for excellence in their pursuits.
