US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said he expects the ongoing war with Iran to end “immediately after” the US midterm elections in November, claiming that Tehran would not be able to sustain the conflict much longer.

Trump also accused Iran of attempting to influence the outcome of the election, saying the country was “desperate to try and affect” the vote.

Trump Links End Of War To Midterm Elections

Speaking to journalists before travelling to a Republican convention in Dallas, Trump said he believed the conflict would come to an end soon after Americans vote in the November midterm elections.

“I think the war will end immediately after the election” because Iran “can’t hold out any longer,” Trump said.

He further alleged that Tehran was seeking to influence the US vote and was “desperate to try and affect” the election.
