Durga Puja being the biggest festival of Bengal, preparations are on in full swing. This year, Durga Puja falls in the last week of September, as a result of which Puja committees have already started preparations.
To add to the excitement, Kedarnath Temple will be featured as the theme for Digha’s Durga puja. Work has already begun on the theme by the Universal Youth Durga Utsav Committee of Digha, who feel this theme will give a chance of “Kedarnath Darshan” to people who are eager to visit one of the four sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites that make up the Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand. For this year’s Durga Puja, the club has a budget of Rs 20 lakh which will be spent on theme decoration, idol, pandal, lights etc.
Digha’s Durga Puja inaugurated by CM Mamata Banerjee
In the past few years, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has inaugurated the puja of this club virtually. CM Mamata Banerjee also visited Digha for inaugurating the Jagannath temple in April this year and during the Ratha Yatra celebrations in June. Whether the CM will inaugurate Digha’s Durga Puja virtually or pay a visit physically this time, is yet to be decided.
