The appeal filed by Amit Jani argues that the Delhi High Court should not have granted a directive to remove promotional material and the teaser for Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy without sufficient evidence demonstrating how the content infringed upon or commercially exploited the persona of actor Salman Khan. Jani’s legal team has underscored that the High Court’s restraining order poses a potential risk to artistic expression.

The appeal further posits that allowing the actor to suppress the filmmaker’s creative work under the veil of personality rights could create a detrimental chilling effect on artistic representations of matters that pertain to public interest.
