IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Win Over Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 Wickets

The Delhi Capitals (DC) secured seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their IPL 2025 encounter on Sunday, March 30, in Visakhapatnam.
Chasing a modest target of 164, DC achieved the win with four overs to spare. The match was snatched in favour of DC by an all-round performance by Mitchell Starc’s five-wicket haul and Faf du Plessis’s half-century.
Winning the toss, SRH skipper Pat Cummins opted to bat first. The decision backfired as DC’s bowlers dominated the early overs. Mitchell Starc dismantled SRH’s top order with figures of 5/35, including the key wickets of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. Kuldeep Yadav complemented Starc with a tidy spell of 3/22, ensuring SRH were bowled out for 163 in the 19th over despite a valiant 74 off 41 balls by youngster Aniket Verma.

Delhi’s Innings

The chase began strongly for DC, with openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Faf du Plessis setting the tone. Du Plessis’s aggressive knock of 50 off just 27 balls included some exquisite shots against Mohammad Shami.
Although debutant Zeeshan Ansari claimed two quick wickets in one over, including Fraser-McGurk (38) and du Plessis, DC’s middle order ensured there were no further hiccups.
Skipper Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs calmly guided their team across the finish line, with Patel remaining unbeaten on 24. The win propelled DC into the top two on the IPL points table, showcasing their dominance early in the season.
The match highlighted DC’s strength in both bowling and batting departments. Mitchell Starc’s performance was instrumental in derailing SRH’s innings, while Faf du Plessis provided a solid foundation for the chase. For SRH, Aniket Verma’s innings stood out amidst an otherwise disappointing batting display.
