Recent investigations into the murder of a 24-year-old MBA student in Indore have unveiled deeply unsettling details regarding the accused. The student was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, who is currently in police custody. According to law enforcement, the accused not only strangled the victim but also committed acts of sexual assault on her body after her death. Following the crime, he reportedly consumed alcohol by her corpse and sought information online regarding communication with spirits.
Victim Found Under Gruesome Circumstances
The victim’s body was discovered on February 13 in a rented apartment located in the Dwarkapuri area, after neighbors reported a foul odor. Police, upon entering the apartment, found the victim lying on a bed without clothing. Visible rope marks were found around her neck, indicating she had been restrained. The accused, Piyush Dhamnodiya, is alleged to have tied her hands and legs and used plastic to muffle her cries.
Relationship Dynamics Leading to Tragedy
Deputy Commissioner of Police Ram Krishnalchandani indicated that the couple had been in a relationship for roughly a year, characterized by frequent arguments, particularly about marriage. The accused reportedly expressed jealousy over the victim’s interactions with other men and was distressed by her desire to marry him.
Fatal Argument Over Marriage
On February 10, Dhamnodiya allegedly invited the victim to his flat to resolve their disputes. The two engaged in sexual intercourse, but tensions escalated during another argument concerning marriage. During this conflict, in a fit of rage, he is said to have strangled her with a rope. Disturbingly, he confessed to stabbing her in the stomach after she had died and admitted to the sexual assault, pending confirmation from the post-mortem report that is yet to be released.
Post-Crime Behavior and Attempts to Mislead
After the incident, the accused reportedly remained in the apartment, consuming alcohol next to the victim’s body. He subsequently retrieved her phone and sent videos to a group, allegedly aiming to tarnish her reputation and deflect any potential suspicion. Following this, he fled Indore by train, ultimately traveling to Panvel in Maharashtra.
Strange Online Searches Conducted by the Accused
In a bizarre turn, police revealed that while in Panvel, the accused searched online, including on YouTube, for methods to communicate with spirits. He purportedly engaged in occult rituals in an effort to “call back” the victim’s spirit. An officer noted that these actions might indicate underlying psychological issues.
Additional Background on the Relationship
The accused had established a rapport with the victim’s family, often visiting their home. The victim’s father expressed concern over her mental state prior to her death, alleging that she was under significant stress due to online harassment and alleged blackmail by the accused, including demands for payment of his college fees.
Lack of Remorse from the Accused
Following his arrest, Dhamnodiya interacted briefly with the media, displaying indifference towards the gravity of his actions. When questioned about the murder, he remarked, “What had to happen has happened,” indicating a lack of remorse. Law enforcement is currently analyzing digital evidence, call records, and forensic data as part of the ongoing investigation.
