India Brings Back 7,000 Citizens Stranded in Dubai; More Flights Planned

The CSR Journal Magazine

Nearly 7,000 Indians stranded in Dubai since February 28 have been successfully repatriated over the past three days. Additional flights are set to be organized within the next 48 hours, drawing from multiple locations including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah, and Fujairah. The repatriation comes in response to rising concerns regarding the safety of Indian nationals in the region.

Meetings with Airline Representatives

Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Deepak Mittal, along with Consul General of India in Dubai, Satish Sivan, convened on Thursday with key representatives from Indian and UAE-based airlines. The meeting focused on reviewing operational efforts that address the plight of Indian citizens stranded in the UAE. These discussions aimed to streamline the process of returning Indian nationals back to their home country.

Flight Operations and Future Plans

According to the Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi, stranded citizens have the option to rebook or book flights directly through the airlines or via local agents. Airlines are working diligently to resume limited, non-scheduled flight operations. The repatriation of nearly 7,000 Indians, particularly those in transit or on short-term visits, was facilitated recently, with a commitment to gradually increase these non-scheduled flights as airspace safety and operational clearances by authorities improve.
