A Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kajal Meena posted in Karauli district of Rajasthan was caught red-handed along with two associates taking a bribe of Rs 60,000. On Thursday trap operation was conducted by the ACB Sawai Madhopur unit on Thursday. Officials shared that the bribe was exchanged in return for the final land decree. The transaction was facilitated by reader Dinesh Kumar Saini and Senior Assistant Praveen Dhakad. Along with Kajal Meena, Dinesh Saini and Praveen Dhakad have been arrested.

Rs 4 lakh suspicious amount seized

As per the officials, the initial ask was Rs 1 lakh, but after negotiation it was decided the bribe would be Rs 50,000, with an additional Rs 10,000 for the mediator reader. Upon receiving the complaint, the SDM office was raided and Rs 4 lakh cash was seized from a bag. Calling the recovered amount suspicious, the ACB said the source of the money is under investigation. A senior ACB official carried out this operation. A case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act and questioning is underway.

Who is Kajal Meena?

SDM Kajal Meena is the ST category topper of the 2024 batch RAS. She is an Electrical Engineering graduate from IIT Mandi. She previously served as the Assistant Collector (Under Training) in Tonk and then as the Sub Divisional Officer in Pratapgarh.
