Hero MotoCorp Launches Xpulse 450 at EICMA 2026 with 421cc Engine

The CSR Journal Magazine

Hero MotoCorp has introduced the Xpulse 450 during EICMA 2026, showcasing a significant advancement in its adventure motorcycle lineup. This model features a new 421cc liquid-cooled engine, fully adjustable suspension, and smartphone connectivity options, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Positioned as the flagship model, the Xpulse 450 aims to enhance the riding experience compared to its predecessor, the Xpulse 210.

Key Features of the Xpulse 450

One of the most notable aspects of the Xpulse 450 is its newly designed 421cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This four-valve DOHC engine generates 46.7bhp at 9,100rpm and delivers a peak torque of 38Nm at 7,500rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and includes a slip-and-assist clutch as standard. These specifications mark a considerable upgrade from the Xpulse 210, which has a 210cc engine producing 24.6bhp and 20.7Nm of torque, making the new model more suitable for highway travel and challenging off-road conditions.

The suspension system is another highlight of the Xpulse 450. It features a 43mm KYB upside-down cartridge fork at the front, offering 225mm of travel. Riders can adjust the compression and rebound damping across 22 settings, allowing for a customised setup based on various terrains and riding styles. This front suspension provides 15mm more travel than that of the Xpulse 210, contributing to improved handling and comfort.

Additionally, the Xpulse 450 is equipped with smartphone integration capabilities. It boasts an approximately 7-inch TFT instrument display compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This feature allows riders to access smartphone functionalities directly from the motorcycle’s instrument console, enhancing navigation and connectivity options during rides. Such integration is becoming increasingly vital in the adventure motorcycle segment.

Focus on Off-Road Capabilities

The Xpulse 450 is designed with off-road riding in mind, featuring wire-spoke wheels that accommodate tubeless tyres. The motorcycle is expected to come with a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel, although the complete specifications have yet to be confirmed by the manufacturer. Input from the Hero MotoSports Team Rally has contributed to the development of this model, emphasising its off-road capabilities and adventure-oriented design.

Combined with its long-travel suspension, the hardware of the Xpulse 450 indicates a motorcycle that is well-suited for diverse terrains. This focus on adventure riding aims to attract enthusiasts looking for a reliable and capable motorcycle for both on-road and off-road experiences.

Market Position and Future Prospects

The introduction of the Xpulse 450 marks Hero MotoCorp’s entry into a more powerful segment of adventure motorcycles. It will be positioned above the Xpulse 210 and will complement other models in the company’s adventure range, including the Xpulse 200 and the Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition. Hero MotoCorp has announced that the motorcycle will first be available in international markets before launching in India.

While the exact launch timeline and pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the Xpulse 450 is anticipated to compete with models such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the KTM 390 Adventure upon its arrival in India. Its enhanced engine performance, adjustable suspension, and smartphone connectivity features may provide it with a competitive edge in this growing segment of the market.
