UPSC Declares Civil Services Results, Successful Candidates Move to Personality Test

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026, enabling successful candidates to proceed to the personality test, which is the final phase of the selection process. The Mains examination took place from August 21 to August 30, 2026. Candidates who have passed this stage will now be eligible for interviews for positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and various other central services.

A comprehensive list of candidates who have been shortlisted for the Civil Services interview is accessible via a PDF document on the official UPSC website. This marks a significant step for those aspiring to serve in various capacities within the Indian government.

As the next phase approaches, candidates are urged to prepare for the upcoming personality tests, which will assess their suitability for public service roles. The interviews are a crucial component of the selection process, determining the final candidates who will be recommended for appointment.

Interview Schedule and Document Verification

The UPSC has indicated that the specific dates for the personality tests will be announced at a later time. These interviews will be conducted at the UPSC office located at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi. Shortlisted candidates will receive e-summon letters, which will be accessible through the official UPSC websites, upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in. It is important to note that no physical summon letters will be distributed.

Candidates are advised to prepare their original documents for verification during the interview process. Essential documents include certificates related to age, educational qualifications, community status, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) status, and documentation for Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD), where applicable. This verification is a critical step in ensuring that all candidates meet the necessary eligibility criteria.

For those claiming reservation or relaxation benefits under categories such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), EWS, PwBD, or ex-servicemen, it is mandatory to present certificates issued on or before February 27, 2026. This date marks the closing of applications for the preliminary examination, and adherence to this requirement is essential for maintaining eligibility.

Final Selection Process and Results Availability

The UPSC Civil Services Examination comprises three stages: Preliminary, Mains, and Personality Test. The interview represents the final stage of this rigorous selection process. Following the completion of the personality tests, a final merit list will be compiled based on candidates’ performances in both the Mains examination and the interview.

The commission has also announced that marksheets for all candidates will be uploaded to the official UPSC website within 15 days of the final results being declared. These marksheets will be accessible for a period of 30 days, allowing candidates to review their performance in detail.

This structured approach ensures transparency and fairness in the selection process, providing candidates with clear information regarding their standings and the subsequent steps they must undertake. The UPSC continues to uphold its commitment to conducting a thorough and equitable examination process for aspiring civil servants.
