Heavy security measures have been implemented outside the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office in New Delhi due to anticipated protests by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists. The protests are reportedly in response to allegations regarding paper leaks in Punjab, which have garnered significant media attention and public concern.

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Member of Parliament Harsimrat Kaur Badal has called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into eleven alleged examination scams that reportedly occurred during AAP’s administration in Punjab. In her message on social media platform X, Badal urged accountability from the government, stating that her demands represent the voice of the people of Punjab.

Badal’s comments are part of a larger political controversy as the BJP criticises the AAP government over these allegations. The BJP has been vocal in its demands for transparency and responsibility regarding the situation.

BJP Actions in Parliament

On July 28, BJP Members of Parliament organised a protest within the precincts of Parliament, seeking the resignation of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains due to the alleged paper leaks. Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP and former AAP member, led the demonstration, emphasising the need for accountability regarding the Punjab examination scandals.

During the protest, participants chanted slogans demanding answers about the Punjab paper leaks. The visible discontent illustrates the mounting pressure on the Punjab government from opposition parties, particularly the BJP and Congress, calling for swift action and resolution.

In addition to the BJP’s efforts, Congress MPs also staged a protest outside Parliament, demanding the resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Their concerns stem from the alleged paper leaks and police actions against sanitation workers who were protesting in Barnala.

Allegations Against AAP Government

The Congress party has accused the Punjab AAP government of multiple paper leaks, claiming that at least four incidents have occurred under their administration. However, AAP has firmly denied these allegations, maintaining that there is no validity in the claims made by the opposition parties.

The SAD has also joined the call for resignation from the Education Minister, alleging that six significant paper leaks, including those for the Punjab Teacher Eligibility Test, Class 12 English examination, and pharmacy officer test, have adversely affected a large number of candidates in the state. These allegations have intensified scrutiny on the AAP regime.

As the political situation evolves, the response from the central authorities and the AAP government will likely be closely monitored by both supporters and critics. The ensuing investigations and public discussions may shape the political landscape in Punjab and influence future electoral dynamics.
