Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel to Arrive in Toronto on Sunday for US-Canada Tour

Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel is currently engaged in a week-long tour of the United States and Canada, accompanied by a high-level delegation from Gujarat. This visit is aimed at enhancing global partnerships and attracting foreign investment in significant sectors as the state prepares for the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027. The delegation is expected to arrive in Toronto, Canada, on August 23.

During the initial segment of the tour, the Chief Minister visited cities including San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and New York. In these locations, he met with key industry figures and visited several prominent institutions to identify opportunities for collaboration and investment in Gujarat.

The upcoming engagements in Toronto will focus extensively on fostering economic ties between Canada and Gujarat. The Chief Minister is expected to participate in various meetings, roundtables, and interactions aimed at showcasing Gujarat’s economic potential.

Events Scheduled in Toronto

On August 23, upon arrival at Toronto’s airport, the Chief Minister will be greeted with a traditional welcome from the Consulate General of India and members of the Gujarati diaspora. Following this reception, he is scheduled to interact with the diaspora and attend an event organised by the Federation of Gujarat in conjunction with the CGI Office.

The following day, August 24, the Chief Minister will conduct a roundtable discussion with representatives from The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). This meeting will serve as a platform to discuss the rapidly growing startup ecosystem in Gujarat. Additionally, he will hold discussions with Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada, and partake in another roundtable involving local representatives and the Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC).

Meetings with leaders from various prominent businesses and institutions are also on the agenda. Participants will include individuals from the University of Waterloo, Canada Nickel Co., HGS Bioscience, and Canadian Tyres, among others. Through these discussions, the Chief Minister aims to explore collaborative opportunities, investments, and partnerships with Gujarat.

Engagements During the US Visit

Earlier in the trip, the Chief Minister focused on the United States, where he met with influential business and technology leaders in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Notable interactions in San Francisco included meetings with Nicolas Sauvage from TDK Ventures and key figures from significant tech firms such as Zscaler and Applied Materials.

In Washington, D.C., the Chief Minister held meetings with representatives from Micron Technology and Google, including Sanjay Mehrotra and Chandu Thota respectively. He also had a personal meeting with Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, and engaged with Walmart’s Dan Bryant.

The Chief Minister’s visit to the United States included interactions with members of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) in Silicon Valley, aimed at exploring talent and investment opportunities that could benefit Gujarat’s economy.

As the Toronto leg of the tour concludes, the Chief Minister plans to visit Niagara Falls, a significant tourist landmark, before departing for Dubai on August 25, continuing his efforts to strengthen Gujarat’s international ties.
