The recent accident near Shamshabad in Hyderabad resulted in the deaths of four family members, while the driver remains critically injured. The incident occurred early on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at approximately 4.30 am. The family was returning from a Ganesh immersion ceremony in Mettugadda Thanda in the Nawabpet mandal of Mahabubnagar district when the crash took place. They were travelling in an Innova on National Highway 44 when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle crashed into a culvert and overturned, leading to significant destruction. Due to the impact, the four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver was found to have sustained severe injuries that required immediate medical attention.

Identification of the Deceased Family Members

The individuals who died in the accident have been identified as Kethavath Limbya, aged 54; his spouse Kethavath Jamuna, 45; Katravath Mansingh, 48; and Kethavath Vasram, 45. All four victims hailed from Chowdur village situated in the Nawabpet mandal. They had reportedly travelled to their ancestral village for the Ganesh immersion festivities, returning to Shamshabad at the time of the tragic incident. The family’s outing turned into a calamity as they attempted to navigate home.

The violent nature of the crash led to extensive damage to the Innova, making rescue efforts a complex task for the police and emergency services. Upon being alerted to the accident, responders quickly arrived on the scene and undertook rescue operations to retrieve the trapped occupants.

The presence of law enforcement in the immediate aftermath of the crash was crucial. Authorities worked swiftly to provide aid while beginning their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the event. The authorities were faced with the task of determining the factors that led to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

Driver in Critical Condition After Rescue

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sabavath Ashok, suffered critical injuries during the accident. Emergency services provided him with immediate assistance and transported him to Trident Hospital located in Shamshabad for extensive medical treatment. As of the latest updates, his condition has been described as critical, necessitating ongoing medical oversight.

Following the accident, the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Osmania General Hospital’s mortuary to facilitate a post-mortem examination. Once the necessary formalities and procedures are completed, the remains will be returned to the families for funeral arrangements.

In the wake of this unfortunate event, the Shamshabad police have officially registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation. Investigators are exploring several factors, including vehicle speed, driver fatigue, and road conditions, to ascertain the cause of the crash.
