In a disturbing case of road rage in Bengaluru, Wing Commander Aditya Bose, an officer with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), was physically assaulted while his wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita, faced verbal abuse. The couple was reportedly en route to the airport from the DRDO colony in CV Raman Nagar when the incident took place.
The attack occurred early in the morning, around 6:30 AM, near the Gopalan Mall area. According to Bose, a biker aggressively approached their car, noticed the DRDO sticker on the vehicle, and began shouting at them in Kannada. The situation quickly escalated when the biker allegedly smashed the window, struck Bose on the forehead with a key, and later used a stone to attack him again, resulting in visible head injuries.
Bose, visibly injured with blood on his face and neck, documented the aftermath in a video shared on Instagram. In the clip, he explained that the attacker hurled derogatory remarks at him and his wife after identifying them as defence personnel. He also expressed his shock at being assaulted despite serving the country, stating, “Is this how we treat our armed forces?”
Bystanders Join Attack on DRDO
Adding to the officer’s ordeal, Bose alleged that bystanders joined in the attack rather than intervening to stop it. One individual reportedly bit his finger during the altercation, while others stood by silently. The couple managed to escape only because Squadron Leader Madhumita quickly drove them to the nearest police station.
In a follow-up video, posted after receiving medical attention, Bose appeared with bandages on his head and shared additional details. He said that the assailant had initially reacted to seeing his wife in the driver’s seat, and soon after, the confrontation turned violent. He also said that in the chaos, he lost his phone and keys, but his biggest concern remains his family’s safety.
While Bose himself did not initially lodge a formal complaint, his wife later filed one with local police. Authorities confirmed they are verifying the video footage and have begun an investigation. Police sources also said they are working to contact the officer directly for a detailed statement.
Videos of the Victim Went Viral
The videos posted by Bose quickly gained traction on social media, with users expressing concern over the safety of armed forces personnel in public spaces. The officer concluded his message with a strong emotional appeal: “God, give me the strength not to retaliate. But if the system fails us, I may not have a choice.”
This incident has reignited a wider conversation about public safety and the treatment of military personnel outside of service zones.
